About the domains
One domain is enough
Every service lives on its own name under a single domain you own. If you do not have one, I register it in your name and hand you the account.
It stays yours
The account at the company that sells the domain is in your name and paid by you (the registrar). I never hold your domain hostage, because I never hold it.
Mail needs the main domain
Mail needs its records set on the main domain name rather than a sub-address, so it is accepted and not treated as spam (MX, SPF, DKIM, DMARC). I set those and watch them, because one wrong entry sends your mail to the junk folder.
